Howdy! My retired husband and I travel every summer and this year worked in Wyoming. Our daughter is a park ranger and she also has been along the many rides we have taken over the last 5 or 6 years. We have visited many ranches; Texas, Colorado, Zion, Monument Valley, California, and many other places around the U.S. Out of all the places we have ever been, this is our absolute, hands down, no runner-ups, favorite place we have ever riden. I do not think the managers of this ranch truly know how much we look forward to visiting whenever we are there in the summer. Growing up around horses, it takes me back to my lost youth and endless love for horses. 😥 If I could give Mill Iron Ranch 10 stars it would not be enough. We have gone horseback riding at this ranch over the last 6 years. We have sent many people there who always have the greatest experience, as we promise they will. In fact one friend we sent last summer, has become interested in horseback riding. She has been to several other ranches and one in Texas. She let us know that out of all the places that she has gone nothing compares to Mill Iron Ranch. The ranch managers, Kim and her husband, daughter Sadie, are the MOST friendly, down to earth and caring people you will meet. Every Wrangler that has guided us have been professional, interesting, and not the boring kind you often find. Elijah, the young man who took us last Tuesday is great for such a young cowpoke! So polite! Their ride takes you above the treelines, through the national forest, and when you reach the top, they stop to take your pictures. It is a two hour ride that is not long enough! The horses are excellent and so well cared for. The only downside is, if you do not call ahead at LEAST two weeks they fill up. For an extra fee, they also have a wonderful cookout ride combo if you are hungry! Their prices are comparable to many other ranches, including the Roosevelt cookout in Yellowstone. But there are no others as tasty, in my opinion. If you are a lover of the real west be sure to stop and have an authentic experience with non-stuffy, professional cowboy's and cowgirl's, while experiencing a real working horse ranch. Skip the actors on the Yellowstone series and see the real deal at Mill Iron Ranch! They are the pro's. 😁🤠🐎 Hope this helps! So if you really want a great ride, friendly wranglers, great staff, don't miss this opportunity while visiting Jackson Hole, Wy. Last note, we noticed on our last ride not one rider besides us tipped the Wrangler. They work so hard and it is not an easy job with the responsibility that comes along with keeping you safe. No matter where you go, please tip your Wrangler, they make sure you are safe, check your saddles, and help in any way they can. They count on the gratitude of tourists.

We did the 2 hour trail ride and it was AMAZING. I knew we would have great views, but it was so much more than I expected! I have very little horse experience and the trail looked a little intimidating at times, but the horses handled it wonderfully and our guide was so helpful! Worth every penny and sore muscle! And don't skip out on the steak dinner. It is seriously the best I've ever had!

Greatest horseback ride of all time! We took the 2 hour trip and wish we’d taken the 4 hour! Our hosts were fantastic and explained everything in great detail. They made us very comfortable throughout the entire ride. Yes, it is steep and the views are crazy amazing but we never felt unsafe. The horses know exactly where to place their feet and have “cleats” on their shoes for extra support and stability. This is real mountain riding in God’s country so expect a true mountain experience! We climbed over 2000 feet so it’s not a meadow ride! Our guides even dismounted and took as many pictures as we liked of us with our horses and the mountains in the background. We cannot wait to return to take the 4 hour and maybe even a sleigh ride in the winter! By the way, we are in our 60’s and haven’t been on a horse since we were very young! Thanks to all the guys who made this experience the best of our lives!! Date of experience: May 2023

This trail ride was the highlight of our trip to Jackson Hole! If you are an experienced horse rider, do this trail ride! There is nothing like a mountain trail ride! The guide was excellent. If you have time, you MUST have the steak dinner!! It ranks up there as one of the top three steaks I have ever eaten!!

This was an amazing horse ride! The views the whole way up were gorgeous and the view from the top was stunning. I'm not sure what was better, the ride or the giant cowboy cooked steak. The steak was no joke. Cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. Everyone was incredibly nice and friendly. We loved our time at this generational family ranch.
