Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School

We booked a fly fishing lesson with Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School as a family, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our entire trip, which is saying something given the competition. Our instructors, Dan and Skyler, were exceptional. Patient, encouraging, and genuinely skilled at teaching complete beginners. Most of us had never touched a fly rod before, and by the end of the session we were actually fishing. That's a testament to how good they are at what they do. The setting is, of course, stunning. There's no bad backdrop when you're standing in a river in the shadow of the Tetons. Now, full disclosure: the weather was brutal. Cold and windy in a way that made feeling your fingers optional. Miserable conditions by any objective measure. And yet, not a single complaint from our group, which tells you everything about the quality of the instruction and the experience. My daughter had a fantastic day landing fish after fish. My wife Rachel got skunked, not a single fish, and still walked away calling it one of her favorite days of the trip. That's the Dan and Skyler effect. We're back home in Wisconsin now and already talking about getting our own equipment to fly fish locally. A fly fishing lesson in Wyoming turned our family into fly fishing people. Highly recommend.

Our three kids, 4, 6, & 8 did the free youth fly fishing seminar and could not have been happier. William was super knowledgeable and incredibly patient with our very excited 8 year old, answering every single question (sometimes more than once) and even slowing down so he could take notes. William did a great job teaching all about the different fish we can find around Jackson and really went into a lot of detail when teaching how to match the hatch and pick the right fly. HIGHLY recommend Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School- it was easy book, the communication and confirmation were seamless. Very excited to get our kids out on the river and test their new knowledge! We will be booking a guided tour when we come back out here next summer.

My fiancée and I had a great experience with Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School!! We booked the half-day private wade walk trip with no fly fishing experience, and our instructor, Dan, exceeded our expectations! He taught us about the different types of fish we may catch, what they eat, and how to fly fish! We only had experience bass fishing, so this was completely different for us, but Dan was incredibly patient and knowledgeable. We only ended up catching one cutthroat trout, but it was SO COOL! After about 4 hours of fishing, we were provided with lunch, which was also great! Thank you, Dan and JH Fly Fishing School, for a great day; this experience made our Wyoming trip even better than we could’ve imagined!

The absolute best experience! We took our 2 teen boys and it was simply magical! We officially have the fly fishing bug! It’s an education from start to finish! Will & Dominic were absolutely precious! So smart, helpful and patient! We can’t wait to come back!
