GTLC – John Colter Ranch House Restaurant at Colter Bay

Some of the friendliest staff I’ve had at a restaurant. The food was good quality, it was somewhat pricey but that is expected with a lodging restaurant deep inside a national park. We ordered the club sandwich and the trout tacos and both were very good. The menu is different for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the bar has its own food menu as well. They share their menus outside so you can look at them and decide which meal(s) you want to dine there. We had lunch and it was fairly quiet, we walked by the building at dinner at time and it seemed very popular and crowded. For dinner, simply went to pick up food at the mini grocery store in Colter Bay.

I’m surprised at the low ratings. This place was really good! Good, diverse menu. Good prices on kids meal. Chili was amazing! Fruit and carrots were a nice way to eat reasonably clean after eating junk food. Would definitely recommend!

We had a great lunch at John Colter Ranch House! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was charming. We started with the Moran View Chopped Salad, which was huge and packed with fresh vegetables. For our main courses, we had the Moran Bison Burger, which was cooked perfectly and juicy, and the Western Side Chili, which was hearty and flavorful. We finished our meal with the peach pie with ice cream, which was the perfect way to end our meal. The service was excellent, our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our lunch here and would definitely recommend it to others!

Had a hamburger and ordered it medium rare and it came out well done. Was not a problem though and was very tasty. Chili was very good. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwhich and said it was good but was not fond of the bread type of the bun. Would recommend. Waitress was great and seemed to thoroughly enjoy her job and had a smile on her face.

Forget the places in Jackson, this restaurant is better! Our hostess, server, employees and the general manager created a perfect evening. They worked together as a team to provide exceptionally attentive service. We ordered the Fried Brussel Sprout app, Hermitage Trail Salad, Jackfruit Tacos & Huckleberry Cheesecake. By far, the best meal we have had in years. The wonderful flavors of the food were incredibly delicious. The chef did not skimp on the ingredients. The presentation was impressive. We almost didn't visit John Colter's Ranch House at Colter Bay because of the mixed reviews. We would have missed out on an incredible dinner & service!
