CM Ranch

CM Ranch is stunning! This past summer I was lucky enough to be selected to be a wedding photographer for an amazing couple who work at CM Ranch and did a back country wedding. Lucky me, I got to stay at the ranch for a few nights and I can't say enough about this amazing spot and the amazing team who work there. All the meals were delicious, the location is beautiful, the horses are so sweet, and the whole team that works there was warm and accommodating. Thank you CM Ranch! I loved my time there, I so appreciate you taking care of me. :) - Taryn

Honeymooned there in 1988 and stayed there each year until 1996. Pete and Lisa were running the ranch back then and from the recent reviews not much has changed. If you want a great place to stay, good food to eat and enjoy the scenery this is the spot. My wife was an accomplished equestrian and I love to fish so the ranch was perfect. The porch parties with the staff at Dining Room 3 are legendary. I am from New York and it was a stroke of luck that I picked this place to honeymoon. Besides the on site scenery, Jackson Hole and Yellowstone are just a short car ride away. I think of the Ranch often and if you have the chance spend a week or two there, you won’t be dissapointed.Vinny.

2022 marks my fourth visit and I've already booked 2023. I've been going to dude/guest ranches since 1993 so I had high expectations -- and the CM Ranch exceeded them. The cabins are spotless and perfectly sized for the guests in each one. The food is out of this world and the chefs really take care to make sure guests have what they want, especially when it comes to food allergies. The wranglers do a wonderful job matching the horse to the rider. There's a good variety of terrain; even though I've been on the same trails most years I always see something new. They do a great job at organizing riding groups so the advanced riders get what they want and the less adventuresome aren't pushed too far. I've been there for both family weeks and adults-only weeks. There's definitely a different dynamic in each, but I like them equally. The kids have separate activities most of the time. Meals are usually together, but there's one dinner where the kids have a separate cookout and the adults have a very nice adults-only dinner. What I appreciate most as a single traveller is that the CM Ranch doesn't gouge guests with an outrageous singles supplement.

We've just returned from a fantastic stay at CM Ranch. I've been to other ranches in Idaho and Montana and CM was the most comfortable and luxurious from all of them. The cabin we had was huge, food was delicious and included steak, venison, duck and ribs. There was a swimming pool to cool off at between rides, regular evening entertainment (cocktail party, fantastic singers, star gazing, Dubois rodeo, Dubois square dancing, outdoor cookout etc) as well as on site hiking and fishing guides. Hunter and Mollie are the nicest people and the whole team they put together bends over backwards to look after you - especially the dining staff. I will miss them all as we loved spending time with them. No wonder they have so many repeat guests. Some have been coming there for 20 years! It's perfect for families, non-riders and riders who don't seek to do a ton of loping as the terrain doesn't allow for too much loping around the ranch. The first 3 days of riding were quite slow compared to what I've experienced at the other ranches in Idaho and Montana (which were both mainly about horse riding with not much else to do and had way more open terrain and longer and faster rides), but day 4 all day ride was fantastic with lots of loping and days 5 and 6 were also great with interesting scenery and more loping than the first 3 days. Overall I'm happy we went to CM and will cherish the memories of this special place and special people!

We have visited the CM Ranch several summers. While we enjoy family trips to other great places around the country, this is one place we feel drawn to for repeat vacations. The ranch setting is beautiful in a peaceful valley surrounded by wilderness and miles of high altitude desert views. The log cabins are quaint, authentic, and now almost 100 years old. We feel as though we are at our “home away from home” with the great hospitality from the staff and managers Molly and Hunter. Our favorite part of the day is enjoying family time on the porch, listening to the nearby stream, relaxing after spending the day on horseback in the Western landscape.
