I decided after the first mouse that I'd figure out my review by starting with a non-mouse rating, and then subtract a star for each mouse we found in our room(s). That left me with (4 minus 3) a single star. In short, we had three incidents of finding mice in our rooms in just three and a half days. In our first room, a mouse appeared on the second full day, we moved (at 11PM) from that room to another -- in which we found another live mouse the next morning. (Important: that second mouse's droppings were not cleaned up by daytime housekeeping, even after we specifically asked for it to be done. The night cleaning crew handled that for us.) We decided to stick it out, but three mornings later we woke to find a dead mouse in that second room, caught in a trap. We left. We cannot recommend this place until they get their mouse problems under control. ** Review, Minus the Mice ** The good: - The security team and the night cleaning person were both fantastic. - The view is astounding. - Most of the front desk crew, including the manager, were great, which is why we tried sticking it out after mouse #2. - The on-site gas station and convenience store were really useful. - The rooms both showed signs of recent improvements (esp. modernizations). - The beds were very comfortable. The meh: - We ate three times at the one restaurant they still have open. Dishes ranged from respectable to awful. - One front desk clerk should learn that smiling when giving the guest a verbal shrug *while smiling* is probably not a good idea. We let it go, but it's a thing that's not going to bring desired results. - The sofa bed (in each room) looked very old. - I didn't like the smell of either room. The bad: - Day cleaning crew missed the one thing we specifically asked for.

The most beautiful place to stay in the Tetons. Period. Johanna at the front desk is amazing -- thank you so much for making our stays fantastic!! Yes, stays, plural. We stayed for almost two weeks, split between stays in Yellowstone. Why five stars? Because it's a fantastic location with stunning views of both Jackson lake and the Grand Tetons with sunrise and sunset views so gorgeous we were awed. In fact, we practically didn't need to leave the property to enjoy the best of the Tetons!! A few side notes before I continue... #1 You'll note reviews of the property are mixed and this is because Signal Mountain has campground/RV sites, a lodge, cabins, and waterfront cottages. #2 The experience at each of the available locations is different, as you'd expect. #3 The campground/RV sites are what you make of them and inexpensive considering you are at an amazing location on the lake. Extras like showers and laundry do cost a bit more but are important to have on site. #4 The cabins are stated as rustic and they are, but they also are in nice, quiet locations and priced appropriately. #5 The waterfront cottages are very nice, with upper and lower apartments (my word as they have a full kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom as well as an outdoor porch with chairs). In the lower units you will hear people moving around above you and sometimes in the upper units you will too. We stayed in a lower unit in the waterfront cottages once and several times in upper units. Both are good, and our preference for the future are the upper units (which can be up to $100 more than the lower units). Both unit types are the most expensive options at Signal Mountain. The property itself is worth the price regardless of where you stay. There's a general store and gas station, a laundromat, a restaurant and lounge as well as the main lodge itself. The restaurant was fairly reasonable for lunch and dinner, with good food and one certainly doesn't need to drive all the way into Jackson to have a good meal. The property has a marina with two long piers and boat rentals, everything from kayaks to fishing boats to pontoon boats for families. Prices are by the hour, half day and such. Recommended! Enjoyed walking around the waterfront, marina and beach! Free coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the morning was a nice touch, even if we had coffee pods and machine in our cottage. Definitely my highest recommendation and a great place to stay in the Tetons! Oh, and don't feed the foxes!!!

Our family stayed here recently for two nights and had a great experience. We were in a two-room cabin a short walk from the lobby and restaurant buildings. The two-room setup was perfect for us. We loved the quick walk to the lake for strolling and swimming and getting sunrise views of the Tetons was a bonus for our stay. The highlight of our stay was the float trip on the Snake River with our guide Joe. He was knowledgeable and kept both the adults and the kids informed and entertained. We will definitely stay at Signal Mountain again when we return to Grand Teton National Park.

Traveling with two dogs in the National Park System can be challenging. They made it easy and were most helpful to us. So, why only four stars? I have a challenge with $400 per night for a cabin that has more history and quaint than features and comfort. Yes, I know that we were within 30 yards of Jackson Lake, but we weren't allowed to walk to the shore with our furry friends and couldn't (nor would we) leave them in the room unattended. Just troubled by the price to value relationship. Did I mention that the staff was so very helpful and supportive?

Signal Mountain Lodge was a wonderful, fun and cozy first stop on our vacation through the area. The cabins are rustic and comfortable with minimal but tasteful updates (like a very nice bathroom) and we had plenty of space for our family of three. There a tons of activities available, some of our group went kayaking on the lake, others went swimming. We drove up to the top of Signal Mountain for a great view of Jackson Hole valley and the entire Grand Teton mountain range. The restaurant had decent food and great service and there is a little store/gas station. In the lodge there is ice and a water station as well as a library. Great views of the mountains can be found from many places.
