Freshness and Quality are What Make Hatch the Best

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo.—When Hatch Taqueria and Tequilas opened in December of 2014, while offering the largest tequila selection in Wyoming, one thing they strived to achieve was a delicious margarita. Using only the best ingredients (a great tequila, fresh in-house squeezed lime juice and a splash of agave syrup), their signature cocktail earned Gold for Best Margarita in this year’s Best of Jackson Hole.

“We’re proud of our margarita,” says Katherine Ward, “It’s just a few simple ingredients.” Ward, along with husband Andy, Betsy Campbell and Jeff Davies, own and operate the business. While Davies’ is the “godfather” to their team of restaurant owners, the Wards are veterans in Jackson’s food and beverage community and know what it takes to run successful restaurant here.

When asked what she’s learned about running a business in Jackson, Ward explained that, “It’s important to take into consideration the needs and demands of both tourists and locals, our staple customers. And it’s really important to take care of our staff. They’ve become our family.” Earning Gold shows that their efforts have not gone in vain. “This is a small community and we’re happy that the people like our product.”

With their new business model, now open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Ward is excited to see where the business is heading. Following their mission to deliver fresh, contemporary Mexican cuisine, their breakfast features a variety of tastes for their diners. From fresh fruit, to traditional Huevos Rancheros with jalapeño bacon, to blue-corn huckleberry and banana pancakes, Hatch should be on your list of places to get your early morning fix.

When asked about their favorite local business apart from their own, Ward and her partners feel passionately about their fellow businesses on the Glenwood block. These include Gallery Wild, Penny Lane, RoamJH and Tayloe Piggott Gallery. “We’re so lucky to be on this block with such brilliant, creative entrepreneurs,” says Ward. Swing by next week, October 17th between 4-7 p.m., for the South Glenwood Social.

Now that summer has passed, Taco Tuesday is back, offering $3 single tacos all day long. “This allows people to mix and match,” says Ward, which is otherwise not the case. Hatch’s happy-hour, between 4-5 p.m., offers a variety of discounted appetizers, $6 traditional margaritas, $7 spicy hatch, $3 draft beer and 50% off wine by the glass.
